Vladimir A. Trefilov

Vladimir  A. Trefilov was born in 1949 in Izhevsk in the family of a research worker. In 1970, he graduated the Historical Faculty of Udmurt State Teachers Training Institute. In 1979, he completed the postgraduate course at the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University. Vladimir Trefilov is Head of the Department of Philosophy and Humanities in Izhevsk State Medical Academy. He is a specialist in religious philosophy, Doctor of Philosophy and the author of over 50 research works. He has also co-authored the textbook «Osnovy religiovedenia» ( Fundamental Religious Studies) meant for institutions of higher education. (M.: Vysshaya Shkola, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2005,2006).

Vladimir Trefilov is a poet, the author of the book of sonnets Fireseed (M.: Prometei, 1989, 204p.) which was translated into English in the USA (Vladimir Trefilov. Fireseed. A Book of Sonnets. 2-nd Ed. Moscow: Anch Publishers, 2005, 320 p.). Since the year 2001 he has been President of the Society of Literary Men of Udmurtia, informal association of 37 young poets and writers. He has been the editor of three issues of the anthology Akvilon published by the Society of Literary Men of Udmurtia (2002, 2004, 2005) and he is also one of the leaders of the Society?s poetic division.

Vladimir Trefilov is also an artist, the author of more than 200 pictures painted in the manner of transrealism, including the «Wormwood Star» (1997) which foretold the tragic events of September 11th 2001. A number of Russian newspapers, including the nationwide Trud-7 (20 — 26 of September, 2001), carried the information about the picture on front page. Many pictures by Trefilov, shown at 18 exhibitions, have been purchased by a number of private British and American galleries.
